I'm excited to have Angela Henderson of Finlee and Me guest posting today! This Easter craft is adorable and can be used with multiple age groups. Over to Angela now...
This Easter craft is super fun and a great way to entertain the kids and take their mind off all that yummy chocolate. These simple and quick to make Easter chickens are colorful and perfect for all ages.
What you'll need:
- Color paper or card – we chose pink, yellow and blue
- A marking pen
- A pair of scissors – preferably child-safe variety
- Any scraps of ribbon, old wrapping paper
- A glue stick
Now let's get started
- First we need to get the template of the little chick Draw or trace onto your color paper a template of a little chicken. If you only have white paper, that will be fine too. Get the kids involved in drawing their own interpretations. Remember it doesn’t have to be perfect and the more unique the better. You can even use our images as a guide. Cut out your template. If you don’t have child-safe scissors available, leave this part to the adults.
Time to get creative
* Gather together any scraps of ribbon, scrapbooking materials, old gift wrapping paper or even old Christmas cards. The more colorful or patterned the better. These will be used for the wing and chest shapes of the little chick.
* Once you have your chosen materials cut out some little wing shapes and a variety of chest shapes. You can get as detailed as you like depending on the age of the children.
* Try to cut out lots using different designs and materials so that your kids can get as creative as possible.

Putting it all together ~
Once everything is cut out, time to let the children assemble their own little Easter chicks.
Help them, if needed, to draw on an eye and outline on the bird, around the template edge.Using a glue stick or other craft glue, kids can then stick on their chosen chest piece and another piece for the wing.
And there you have it. A simple, cute Easter chick.
These new little creations can be used in a number of ways. You can attach them to cellophane bundles of Easter eggs for gifts, glue them onto card to make hand-made Easter cards or string them together to make hanging decorations. They are so versatile and fun.
And if cutting a chick shape is too hard, why not just cut egg shapes and get the kids to cover them with bits and pieces of colored ribbons and other stickers or glittery gems you may have around!
There are no rules except to have fun!
