"Is this the right foot?" Kay always asks when it's time to put her shoes on. I found a tip in a magazine on how to help her do it without asking for help: I used a permenant marker to make an arrow on the sole of each shoe - a right-facing arrow on the left shoe, and left-facing arrow on the right shoe. I told her the arrows should always be pointing to each other. Still, she would put them on the wrong feet, so she came up with her own idea: point the arrows in the opposite direction. I did this on the back of each shoe, and now she has no problem. Discuss with your preschooler which he or she prefers.
