Shy? Not so much... How did I end up with the outgoing child? I'm painfully shy - emphasis on painfully - and yet my little girl is the outgoing one who greets strangers in the store and will go up to any random child and ask if they want to play. I was so worried that she would end up like me - I've been this way long enough to know that I wouldn't wish it on anyone, much less my own child.

But I can't disappoint her - I won't. So we walk in and she'll go up and ask, "Do you want to play with me?" or "Will you be my friend?" And I'm just so proud of her. Non-shy people can't possibly understand the pride I feel that my little girl didn't take after me in this particular aspect. I hope I can teach her some things as time goes on, but this is one area where I can definitely learn something from her.
