Every year, a little after Thanksgiving, "Santa" would make a quick visit to our house. We'd hear the jingling of bells, then one of my parents would "just happen" to look outside and see a package on the porch and we'd find a small toy and a note telling us that we'd been good and he'd see us soon. It was a fun tradition that continued even after my sister and I stopped officially "believing".
Wende of The Visiting Elf shop on Etsy, has taken this idea up a notch. She has created elf footprint stamps, for a nighttime pre-Christmas elf visit to your child.

The story goes that each year, specially-chosen elves come before Christmas to check on each child, assessing how soundly the child sleeps and whether they should be on the nice or naughty list. The elves rub a special powder on their feet to allow them to move quietly and freely. (Thus, the stamps!) Included with the stamps is a story about one such elf (Mr. Tracks...Makin Tracks - get it? I love it!) and how he came to be chosen for the highly important job of Visiting Elf. It's a wonderfully imaginative story that, with some illustrations, would make a magnificent children's book in its own right.
How exciting to be a child, all amped up on the excitement and anticipation of the holiday to begin with, to wake up one morning and find that an elf has paid you a visit. All that being "good" has paid off!
The stamps come in a red velvet bag, just like what you'd imagine Santa's toy bag to look like, only a miniature version (we are talking elves here!).

It is suggested you use cornstarch or baking soda as "powder" for the stamps, which are both easily vacuumed up, and what the vacuum doesn't get, a wet cloth will. It won't work on hardwood floors, but anything the powder can cling on to, such as carpets, blankets, jeans or cushions, is fair game. Also included are helpful suggestions and tips for using the stamps, including thinking about how you want your elf prints to look (did your elf walk, jump, tip-toe?) and what else he might have done while he was visiting (did he stop for a snack? play with the toys?).

Wende has created a winner with these fun stamps. Children will have a blast imagining what the elf was doing during the visit!
This will be a wonderful tradition for you and your children, making a memory you will all hold dear.

And great news! The Visiting Elf has kindly agreed to offer one stamp set to a lucky winner. Enter below for your chance!
