Apparently my new-found love of crafting is becoming known to my family. My husband brought me home some scrap wood blocks from work, explaining, "I knew you'd find something to make with them."

Since it's getting ever-closer to Halloween (Kay has changed her Halloween costume idea 4 times already!), I thought these would make a cute pumpkin decor idea. They were fun to make, mostly because they were so easy. (I just LOVE easy!) The fact that they came out so cute was a bonus!
Supplies:
- Wood blocks
- Acrylic paint
- Cardstock (black)
- Sponge brush
I started out by painting the blocks orange. These blocks had a slight coating to them, so the paint didn't spread on super-smoothly, but I thought the streaky-look added to the pumpkin feel anyway, so, all good!
As a shortcut, I used my Cricut to cut out the faces for the Jack O-Lanters (check spelling). I got lucky - that pumpkin faces were free that week! I glued on the cardstock eyes and mouths with a simple glue stick.
Kay loved the silly faces by I must say I have a fondness for the angry dude myself!
Since I still had some blocks left over (did I mention that he brought home a lot of them?!) I decided to try for a not-scary Frankenstein as well. I used a sponge brush to dab on the green paint; it gave him a cool, spottled look). Hey, I don't think Frankenstein had a clear complexion!
I added some zigzag hair with black paint. Then I cut circles out of white cardstock for the eyes with the Cricut. The rest (the eye balls, the eye brows, the mouth and the obligatory scars) were simply done with Sharpie.
Kay really liked this guy - and he certainly is a cutie, if I may say so!
