I'm not usually big on making our own paint. There's the extra trouble of finding the ingredients, and then the time to make it, when Kay usually wants to paint RIGHT NOW!
But after seeing an easy DIY paint idea at Mini Monets and Mommies, I was inspired to give this one a try. And I'm glad I did!
Supplies:
- Grated chalk
- Glue
- Just a drop of water
Part of what was fun about making this was experimenting with how much glue and how much water to use. I left it up to Kay (adding a little science element to our art!). She noticed that adding more water made the paint...wait for it...watery. But watery paint made for great splatter painting!
Leave it to Kay to find the messy potential in, well, just about anything!
(Notice our wonderfully second-hand paper. No piece of paper is really used up until both sides are completely covered!)
I personal preferred the original recipe with just a dab of water, making it a little smoother but still paint-like. We will definitely be experimenting with this one some more!
