After several years of being the proud mom of a little girl who loved trucks and mud and superheroes, I'm kind of enjoying this change over to girly-girl. This year she turned 7 and wanted a My Little Pony party. Sparkles, pink, rainbows - it doesn't get much more girly-girl than that!
She also planned on inviting only girls (oh, if only the "boys are gross and yucky" stage would last through the teen years...) so we could focus on filling the party favor bags with girly-girl things too. This called for... "Hoof Decoration Kits"!
I saw the idea on Pinterest to have a Hoof Decorating Station for a My Little Pony party. Unfortunately, our party was at a roller skating rink - dark, noisy, and kids more interested in skating than manicures. So we got some mini nail polishes, mini nail files and some little nail stickers to add to the goodie bags. I also made up some "Hoof Decorating Kit" tags to add to the rainbow gift bags and printed them out on cardstock.
Note: We got the rainbow gift bags and cardstock courtesy of Oriental Trading. (We usually get all our party stuff there and from the dollar store!)
To fill the bag (because we *always* go a little overboard on the goodie bags...it's our thing!) we went to Five Below for lip gloss, friendship bracelets, hair elastics, and rainbow candy.
Finally, I printed out Rainbow Dash's Cutie Mark (don't know what a Cutie Mark is? Well, aren't you lucky! It's essentially the kid-friendly version of a brand) onto cardstock and hot glued those tags onto rainbow lollipops. (You can download them if you'd like - attached to toothpicks they'd also make great cupcake toppers!)
The nail polish alone was a huge hit. We had girls from 3 - 11 years old and I kept overhearing comments about the "awesome" and "cute" nail polish. Looks like we had a winner!
