By now you've probably heard of coloring books made for adults. Maybe you've even given them a try. They're supposed to be relaxing and some are even marketed as having a meditative effect. That's a lot of hype to live up to!
I recently got the opportunity to try out a few of these books and I jumped at the chance. For a while in my teens I loved coloring and used to wonder why there weren't any for grown-ups. (You can only color so many Care Bears and cute puppies!)

For a while in my teens I loved coloring and used to wonder why there weren't any for grown-ups. (You can only color so many Care Bears and cute puppies!) So I was excited to give these a shot and feel the instant calming benefits I was sure would follow.
Now, I've been on a card-making kick lately (I "blame" my new Cricut Explore for that one!) so my mind instantly switched on to how I could use these lovely illustrations for a card. I thought it would look cool to cut out a word or shape. I was right.
I used my Cricut machine cut out the word "LOVE" and then colored them in with Sharpies (my coloring utentil of choice).
(Sharpies do go right through the pages, but since I was going to be gluing them to the cardstock, it didn't matter to me!)
The result: a simple card that I rather *love* (get it?!).
As for all that relaxing through coloring stuff...I'm sure it works for some people, but for me it just makes me frustrated when I go outside the lines. Remnants from being a perfectionist in childhood!

Disclosure: I received these coloring books at no cost in exchange for my honest opinion.
