This was going to be a post about a new-to-us kind of sensory dough - sort of like play dough, but not.
And it is a post about that - almost.
And it is a post about that - almost.
I set out the ingredients: 1 cup of cornstarch to about 1/2 of conditioner or any kind of lotion (all available at the dollar store!).
Kay got to the mixing, accidentally-on-purpose getting the cornstarch all over her. (Glad we were outside!) And after some mixing, it did make a nice dough that looks like it would have been fun to play with.
We never got that far.
Whether it was because she was sincerely curious, likes to mix things, or just wanted to make a mess, I don't know, but she asked what would happen if we added more lotion. Well, when she put it that way, I couldn't deny my little scientist the opportunity to find out.
So she squeezed in more conditioner...
and hand lotion...
and then asked for some water from the house. By that point any sign of a dough was long gone, so I let her get on with it.
By then we were left with a concoction that could only be called...icky.
But this, to me, is preschool science. She took things her own way, tried a mixture of ingredients, and made - well, a mess, but hopefully there was some learning in there too!
