It's fun to go shopping for someone else's baby - all the cuteness, none of the sleepless nights! And those adorable little outfits and soft, cuddly soft animals are just begging to be bought. But what does a new mom really want? Here are 5 things that are almost guaranteed to please!
Something useful. Diapers are a biggie. Everyone loves to buy the cute little baby clothes or the adorable little toys. Diapers aren't flashy, but they're needed...and appreciated!
Something handmade. When it's made by you, that says you took the time to really think about the mom and her new little one. A blanket, a hanging for the nursery...if it comes from the heart, it means a lot.

Something unique. New parents get A LOT of clothes. It's fun to pick out baby clothes and most people stick with that. So usually I stay away from clothes for a new baby gift, knowing everyone else will chose that route. However, if you can find something unique - a cute saying, a favorite sports team - it will stand out from the hordes of others and be remembers. Even better, it will get worn!

Something else useful. Make swaddling easy by giving swaddling blankets with stay fastened with velcro. Even at the best of times no one wants to fuss with wrapping a squirmy baby in a receiving blanket that keeps falling off; add in stress and lack of sleep and Mom will be glad for those Velcros!
