Marble painting is something that has been on my want-to-try-it list for some time but Kay has always been a bit nervous about getting paint on her marbles. (Never mind the fact she doesn't mind getting paint on everything else!) But on this morning I just said, "Grab some marbles, we're going to do marble painting!" and I didn't hear any argument so we went with it. I used a recycled cereal box for the paper and put it in a cardboard box we found that seemed perfect for this. We both splattered some paint onto the paper and she got to rolling the marble around.
It instantly made cool lines and designs as the marble swirled around the box. Then Kay added the rest of the marbles (about 3 more) for even more fun designs!
She asked for more paint and wanted to do it herself, which I let her, even though she put a big splotch of paint in the box that the marbles got caught in when they tried to roll over it!
She also liked rolling the marbles around with her hands. Afterwards, I put the "artwork" aside and she had fun just rolling the cleaned-off marble around the box.
Some people use marble painting as a non-messy activity. We do it a little differently! :)
