Wriggly Worm Painting

This month's Poppins Book Nook theme is The Great Outdoors. We had some fun with this one, both with reading and painting!
Painting with worms!
We read the book "Wonderful Worms" by Linda Glaser, which is filled with cool worm facts.

To go along with it, we did some painting...with worms! Now our worms were of the colorful and non-wiggly kind. I made the mistake of saying that we would be painting with worms, and when I took the yarn pieces out of the bag, talking to them as if they were *real* the whole time, Kay exclaimed, "Those aren't worms! That's just yarn!"

She's known me 5 years. Did she really think I would be bringing in worms to wriggle around in the paint? Apparently.

To make the prints, we dragged the yarn through the paint and then onto the paper. (Better way - add paint to the paper and then drag the yarn through - much easier!)

To make good prints you need to get your fingers dirty.

The weird thing about this for us was that Kay has taken a sudden "I don't want to get my fingers dirty" attitude. (The following day she didn't want to plant because she would get her hands dirty!) All the while I'm thinking, "Who are you and want have you done with the real Kay?"

In the end, she did work out a way to drag the yarn and keep her hands clean. Is this a sign of her growing up? Because if it is, I'd like to state for the record that I am totally against it!
