These #UltimatePlaydate ideas are part of the Crayola and Juicy Juice shop, as hosted by Collective Bias Social Fabric. I was compensated for this post, but all ideas and opinions are my own. #CollectiveBias
With summer nearly here, and warmer days already upon us, Kay is asking for popsicles and ice creams and freeze pops. (Okay, that's misleading - she asks for that stuff in the winter too!)
But instead of buying store-bought popsicles, we like to make our own. Our version is super-easy, because that's the way I like it, and yummy, because that's the way she likes it (and mama has been known to take some licks too!)
Okay, here's the secret recipe. Listen closely...
You will need:
You will need:
- Juicy Juice (any flavor) (We got ours at Wal-Mart, see "Mom Tip" below)
- ice pop tray - We used popsicle trays from the dollar store (big spenders we!) but you can also use ice cube trays for a smaller version (Her Good Life can show you how)
- a freezer
That's it. You see where this is going. Pour your favorite flavored juice into the tray, put in the freezer. Wait. Then eat. Sure, it's not exactly complicated. But here's a secret - your kids will love it anyway. (And they'll think you're pretty amazing in the process - "Mom can make her own popsicles! Wow!" Fact.)

The great thing about these are:
- they're easy to make and the kids will love helping to make their own treat!
- you can pick juice flavors that your children likes - no more throwing away the "ucky" ones!
- no added sugar - you're the maker, so you control what goes in each frozen treat.
- they're yummy. 'Nuff said!
But what to do while you're waiting for those popsicles to harden (kids are notoriously impatient - maybe you've noticed?)
We were lucky enough to have some Crayola products sent to us, so we were all set. We took some sidewalk chalk to the playground. Another fact - nothing makes a kid at the playground more popular than a simple toy. Chalk did the trick on this trip.

Mom tip: From now until September, specially marked packages of Juicy Juice products will offer up to $3 off coupons on Crayola products, such as Color Wonder (we love those!). Nutrition and fun - sounds like a win!
Easiest way to entertain a child - draw a line.
I also drew a simple track (basically, a line) on the ground in our driveway. I added swirls and loop-de-loops and Kay was content to meander along, making up stories of where she stopped. (This is the ant forest...this is candy woods...this is gingerbread men buiilding houses...'Can I eat your house?'...) I love listening to her imagination!
Finally, we checked the pops and - wouldn't you know - they were icy. Ahhh. Now this is summer!
Healthy snack + fun play = happy preschooler!
