I made one of those bottles with water and glitter in it that's supposed to be relaxing. I had such high hopes. I was *sure* that it would help Kay calm down a bit when she got into one of her moods. At least it would help a little. Um, no. Not for her. I confidently filled up an empty water bottle with hot water (the better to melt the glue with) and squeezed in the glitter glue and poured in the sparkles like I was concocting a magic potion. I wasn't sure how much to use, so I'd add a little, shake it around, add some more, and hope for the best. It came out beautiful, if I may say so myself. With as much glitter as I put in there, how could it not? (Though in the world of 4-year-old girls, there is no such thing as too much glitter!) Then I played with it a while and I personally found it very relaxing.

I was almost waiting to Kay to get angry (doesn't that sound awful?!) so I could test out the bottle on her. And sure enough, she got frustrated because she was able to put her shirt her (explain that one to me, would ya?) and I brought out my sparkly bottle. When I showed it to her, nothing. So I left it in there with her and sat in the kitchen, thinking maybe she'd go to it herself. Watching her out of the corner of my eye, I saw her shake it a few times, and then throw it on the couch. I tried again later in the day before finally accepting that this technique just was not for her. I'll probably give it another shot, but I'm not hopeful any more. We'll just have to find other things that help to calm her down when she's so upset. On the plus side, I have a new bottle of glitter to help me be calm!
