I'm so excited to be joining up with Poppins Book Nook for their 2nd year! It's a virtual book club where each month is a different topic and a great group of bloggers each posts about a book and activity they chose to go with the topic.
DIY Double-decker bus - Poppins Book Nook | P is for Preschooler
This month the topic was "Where in the World?" We read "Madeline in London," a fun rhyming story about the crazy adventures Madeleine has in England with her boarding school friends.
Going through the story allowed me to point out the double-decker buses, and Kay was very interested in them, so our activity was to make our own.
Cut hole in back of shoe box
Using a shoe box, we wrapped it in red construction paper. I cut a strip in the back of the box. Then I cut an egg carton in half and pushed the flap of it through the hole. It wasn't very sturdy (no heavy passengers on the second floor!) but it was doable.

Then we added some wheels to the outside and a steering wheel (both just black construction paper circles) and it was ready for a test drive.

Getting the hodge podge of passengers together, I used the Diego doll to prop up the egg carton so that it was straight and a little more sturdy. (Thank you for the use of your head, Diego!)

With an alligator as the driver, it was good to go!

So just who are these other great bloggers I mentioned, you say? So glad you asked!
