Spring into Learning with Sensory Bins

The thing I love most about sensory bins, besides the fact that they keep Kay entertained, is that they don't need to be complicated. Simple works best for us. Sometimes all it takes is a bin with Easter grass or rice and some plastic eggs, left out to be explored.
Sensory bins for Spring | P is for Preschooler
Here are some sensory bins with a spring theme that are inviting but also easy and inexpensive to put together!
Dandelion sensory bin The Pleasantest Thing
Yard over-run with dandelions? Here's one solution from The Pleasantest Thing. (Bonus points if you get the kids to pick them too!)
Bird's Nest Sensory Bin Learn Play Imagine
This bird's nest sensory bin from Learn Play Imagine is a great way to bring up birds and what they eat and how they build nests. Or just good, old-fashioned imaginative play!
Insect sensory bin Stir the Wonder
Warm weather brings out the bugs. I hate all things creepy and crawly, but this sensory bin from Stir the Wonder still looks inviting to play with!
Gardening sensory bin Mama Papa Bubba
A gardening sensory bin, like this one from Mama Papa Bubba, is a fun way to play in the dirt (like they need a reason!) and learn more about seeds and how they grow.
Easter sensory bin ABC Creative learning
This colorful bin from ABC Creative Learning can be made with items from the dollar store!
Sensory bin for preschoolers and toddlers Learn Play Imagine
Easter eggs + colored rice = happy kids! (Learn Play Imagine)
Birdseed sensory bin for preschoolers or toddlers
Birdseed makes a great sensory material - and if you do this outside, any that spills will feed your neighborhood feathered friends! (P is for Preschooler)
Dirt sensory bin Frogs Snails and Puppy Dog Tails
A natural (and free!) sensory material, dirt or mud by itself is fun. Anything else you add is just a bonus! (Frogs and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails)
Pond sensory bin for toddlers and preschoolers
This pond sensory table uses craft foam to make the lily pads - I love that craft foam can float! (P is for Preschooler)
Flower sensory bin Chaos and the Clutter
And what would spring be without flowers? The Chaos and the Clutter used silk flowers and colorful pom poms in this bin (the flowers will also float in water!).
But why limit it just to bins? Sensory play is all around us, and spring is a wonderful time to get into nature for the ultimate original sensory play - digging in dirt, smelling a flower, stomping in mud.
More Fun Mom even made a scavenger hunt about it - although I can't imagine my daughter would need any extra encouragement to jump in a mud puddle!
