I'm excited to be joining this blog hop started by Amy of Child Care Station, all about celebrating play in children. Are they ever really "just playing," as some people will say so dismissively?
I get so ridiculously proud when Kay comes up with her own play ideas and puts them in motion. She hasn't always done that on her own, so when she does, I'm one happy mama.

Here Kay set up the couch cushions as a stage, donned her superhero cape and sang into her microphone. Then she decided it was story time.
Making sure everyone can see the pictures...
She may be "just playing", but....
What is she doing here?
What do you see?
What learning is taking place?
What skills are being practiced/developed?

I'd love if you would take a moment to let me know what you think and share your observations in a comment. There's no "right" answer, just as there is no "right" way to play!
I also invite you to visit the other "Just Playing?" bloggers who are sharing photos of children learning through play this week.
Thank you for remembering that young children do not "just play." Young children play. They develop through play. They learn through play. They experiment through play. They grow through play. A child's work is play. Play is important!
