I love the preschool crafts that actually look like little hands worked on them. Check out a Pinterest or Google search - no way toddlers or preschoolers made some of those things! The real thing may not photograph as well, may not be as pretty in some eyes, but it's authentic and real effort was put into them.
You won't find any of those neat projects here. (Really. Because even when I try my crafts come out looking like a 4-year old did them anyway!)

Which brings me to...our cardboard tube train, inspired by this lovely version from Once Upon A Play Time. Kay had fun with it, so score in my book!
I cut out the "seats" ahead of time and also used a hole punch to make holes on each side of one end of the tubes, connecting them with pipe cleaners. Then she got to the painting.

And what color would you like to make your train?
Pink!
Pink train it is. She was careful to paint inside the tube as well. (So the seats would be colorful?)

When it was dry we glued on the buttons, poked a hole in the front for the clothespin steam engine chimney, and clipped on a cotton ball for the steam.
Finally Kay's dollhouse family was ready to take this baby for a whirl!

She had so much fun with it, I'm thinking it's time to get the girl a train set!
Month 3 of Project: Recycle & Create is all about cardboard tubes! Show us what you've done with them by adding a post to the linky below or sharing a pic on the P is for Preschooler Facebook page. I look forward to seeing your ideas!
