Have you ever seen a snowflake? Stupid question, right? But have you ever really seen one? These things are beautiful!
I read somewhere that if you take a piece of black construction paper and leave it in the freezer for a few minutes, then take it outside to catch some snowflakes, you'll be able to see them if you look quickly. So of course we had to try this out.
Kay got her new magnifying glass ready (a real glass one - not my idea!) and we took the construction paper from the freezer. Then we went out and caught us some snowflakes!
And - hey - it really worked! You could see the perfectly formed flakes even without the magnifying glass, but Kay likes to use it anyway. This is one of those science-y things that amazes the adult just as much (or maybe more!) than it does the child.
