Today's edition of Saturday Science is a bit different. Instead of doing a new science activity, I'm going to share with you some of my favorites we've done. At the end of this post I hope you will add your own posts to the list, or just get some great ideas! While Kay, at 4, doesn't understand (or honestly really care) about the official scientific explanations, she is fascinated by seeing unexpected things happen and enjoys testing out different ideas. Here were our favorites that we did:

Melting ice to free the dinosaurs frozen in ice was a lot of fun! We will definitely be doing this one again when the weather warms up!

I loved this catapult because it was sturdy, even for ungentle preschooler hands. She still uses this when we have pom pom fights. (Yes, we do!)

Exploding baggies...what's not to love? (Next time I'll get the Ziploc bags that seal quickly though!)

Our clothes hanger scale was a simple way to compare weights of different things. And she wanted to fit everything into those paper cups!

Science that turned into art. I'm pretty sure Kay's favorite part of this experiment was getting her hands into it but the colorful bubbles were pretty cool too!

Experimenting with candy was colorful and tasty. Even though Kay did sneak more pieces than I would have liked!

And this has to be our #1 favorite of the year. Kay and I both loved this one. Raisins that dance? Oh, yeah, it was a hit!
You're on a roll! If you have a science post, add it here. Then hop on over to Little Bins for Little Hands for more great science ideas for kids!
