These adorable clips were inspired by the awesome Lalymom and her Monster Munch game. She turned her clips into monsters; I added some pipe cleaner antlers and call them reindeer!
We used: clips (from the Dollar Tree), pipe cleaners, googly eyes, and pom poms. (All supplies except the clips, were received from our friends at
CraftProjectIdeas.com, available at WalMart.)

I set them on the floor, with cut-up pieces of pipe cleaner as "bugs" to eat. We played a game by rolling a die and whatever number came up was the number of "bugs" our reindeer got to eat. (Do reindeer even eat bugs? Probably not. But I was focused more on the counting and the fine motor skills than the realism of the reindeer food!)
At some point, Kay brought in the lantern she's been playing with lately. (Supposed to be for if the lights go out. At this rate, when the lights go out, the battery in the lantern will be dead!) She turned out the lights and wanted to play by the light of the lantern. O-kay. She wants to do everything with flashlights or lantern lately. So I managed to swing the conversation around to how it must be difficult for nocturnal animals who look for food at night, and "how do you think they do that?" (And yes, now we had nocturnal reindeer hunting for bugs!)
This was a fun game and great for working on fine motor skills and counting!
