My daughter is a builder. She loves making towers, just to watch it tumble down again. So I was excited to get a chance to review this Floating Castle Set from Just Think Toys. Floatable blocks? Building in the water? That adds a whole new balance challenge!
Kay was excited, too, and eager to get in the tub (which she loves anyway). The blocks come in a bag that doubles as storage, with a mesh bottom so the wet toys can drip dry. We took out the pieces one by one and then I sat back and let her do whatever she wanted. This set comes with characters too and she went the pretend play route first, playing with the included dragon, dog, princess, prince and knight.

When she started to build, I suggested she try to stick them to the wall. She did but we couldn't get the blocks to stick to the wall for more than a few seconds, even with the recommendation of using soap suds to make it "stickier". No matter. Kay found it very amusing to stick the little foam characters to the wall, facing the wall, so they couldn't "see".

She got a little frustrated when she couldn't build the castle with all the blocks, the way it is on the package.(It's not easy building when your base keeps moving!) But on the back of the package are other suggestions and she ran with those.
Block play in the bath tub adds a whole new dimension to ordinary building toys. She was in the bath tub, playing with this toy in various ways, for over 30 minutes! Do you know how long that is in preschooler time? Long!
Obviously they can also be used as simple soft blocks for out-of-the-tub play as well.
