The day after our nature sensory bin, I dumped all the materials onto the grass. An unexpected bonus - the dogs each took their pick. Lily the chihuahua chose a stick to chew, and then came back to rip up some leaves, and Toby the poodle-mix took...a pine cone? Yep, and seemed to enjoy gnawing away on it too. Who knew?!
With the leaves that the chihuahua had not ripped up, I wanted to glue them onto toilet paper rolls, add some googly eyes, and create...leaf people! Well, it turns out regular school glue is not so adhesive for those materials - or maybe we just didn't give it enough time to dry. Kay wanted to play with them right away. So we improvised. Skipping the toilet paper rolls as a stand, we just glued googly eyes to some leaves. With the TP rolls, I stuck some twigs in the sides for arms, and Kay put a googly eye on. (All her creatures had only 1 eye - she's on a Monsters Inc. kick at the moment.) They came out cute - even with their one eye!
