Some of my favorite activities for kids are the ones where you just put out the materials and let them explore and create however they want.
Not because it's less work for me. Okay, at least not ONLY because it's less work for me! But also because I love seeing what kids discover with when left to their own devices. They almost never fail to amaze me with what they come up with!

This activity was one of those they called "invitations". As in, "Here's the supplies, set out in an inviting way; won't you join me in creating something?"
Supplies: (another beauty of "invitations" like this - anything goes! But here's what we used...)

I used cream cardstock to cut out the eggs using my Cricut. Of course, the shapes are easy enough to cut out with scissors, but I'm spoiled by my cutting machine! Then I ransacked the craft supplies for anything that struck me as a "spring" color.
(We're going to ignore that the supplies were set out in a very-unseasonal but totally-handy leaf tray!)
Kay got to work trying different things. By the end, she wasn't even gluing the pieces on the paper; just arranging things different ways, sweeping them off the egg and starting again. Clever, or kind of lazy, depending on how you look at it!
