This quick weaving activity is great for fine motor skills, makes a great Halloween decoration, and even inspired some pretend play. Talk about a win!
Supplies:
- Twine or thread (we used hemp)
- Skill craft sticks (we got ours from CraftProjectIdeas.com, sold at Walmart by Horizon Group USA)
- Glue
First we glued 3 sticks on top of each other. Ignore the fact that it looks resembles a snowflake so far - it's about to be transformed!
Then Kay picked a color and got to weaving it around. I love that these skill sticks have little notches in them; it made them perfect for this project! She was a bit random, but it still came out looking like a cool pattern.
In the middle she wanted to change her color, which brought up the question, "Wouldn't spider webs look awesome in colors?"
Judging by this one, I'd say yes!
When she finished each color I tied it to the loose thread where she started. I remembered that I had some plastic spiders from her toy bug collection and brought those out. She liked introducing the spiders to their new "home".
P.S. Anyone else totally creeped out by the plastic spiders?!
