I want Kay to know that the little things matter. Small, seemingly simple acts of kindness can make a big difference.
That's why I put together a "month of kindness" during July. It really helped us focus each day on doing something small that would make someone smile.
So we're keeping it going!

While our July calendar was a freebie for our newsletter subscribers, I wanted to share our August calendar (which is very similar with just a few changes) with everyone!

Doing acts of kindness doesn't need to be expensive or complicated. These ideas don't take much time or money, but they can turn around someone's day - including your own!
- Make a card for someone you love
- Leave a homemade surprise for a neighbor. (Card? Cookies? Just a note to say "hi!"?)
- Offer a cold drink to the trash collectors or mail carriers on a hot day.
- Tell someone why you love them.
- Make something yummy for the fire station.
- Do a chore for someone but - shhh! - don't tell them!
- Call a loved one you haven't seen in a while.
- Smile at 3 people you pass by.
- Hold the door open for those behind you.
- Plant a flower.
- Share stickers with kids you meet.
- Donate one of your old books to the library so other kids can enjoy it.
- Feed the birds.
- Play with a pet (yours or a friend's)
- Drawhappy chalk pictures on the sidewalk
- Send a card to a friend (everyone loves to get mail!)
- Collect old blankets & towels for an animal shelter.
- Hand out ice pops at the park.
- Donate a toy you don't use anymore.
- Leave bubbles at a local playground for other kids to find.
- Draw a picture for your favorite librarian. (Or maybe a homemade bookmark!)
- Leave out water for the birds. (They get thirsty too!)
- Offer to wash someone's car. (Feel free to play in the water while you do!)
- Have a lemonade stand and donate the profits. Or give away the cold drinks for free!
- Ask a new friend to play.
- Put away your toys without being asked.
- Help worms get back to the dirt after it rains.
- Pick up litter. (Even just one piece helps!)
- Give a flower to someone.
- Send a thank you note - just because. ("Thank you for being so great!")
- Make a thank you card for the mail carrier
