We haven't used Kay's water table all summer, mostly because it was filthy and partly because she's getting too tall. But she dragged it out the other day, wanting to play with it, so we worked on cleaning it off. Yesterday, while she was in for "rest time" (my substitute for nap time; I think it's more for me than for her!) I gathered some various things around the house she could use in the water (hand soap dispensers, almost-gone bubble bath, play tea cups, and a water bottle with spout) and set them up next to the water table. When she got up, I had her change into a bathing suit and I brought her outside.
She got right down to business. I thought she would love the water container with the spout, but after emptying it once, she heading for the almost-empty bottles of bubble bath. She liked making bubbles in the water and squirting soap in the tea cups. Funny thing was, with all the bottles and things to play with, the water table itself was nearly forgotten!

On a walk earlier in the day she had found a small toy frog, so of course he got to play in the water as well. She wanted a lily pad for him, so I suggested to try some leaves. The first leaf for too small, and Froggie sank to the bottom. Another leaf was a bit bent, and water seeped onto it, so that one was rejected too. Finally she found a perfect leaf and Froggie could float happily around.
