Fun with Glow Sticks

 There are all kinds of opportunities for playing with glow sticks...and to think I used to think it was fun to just wave them around!

 So when we got the chance to try out these glow sticks, Kay and I had a good time just thinking up unique ideas of things to do with them.

   She came up with glow stick hide-and-seek, where we hide the glow sticks and have to find them in the dark. We haven't gotten to that yet, but it's definitely in our future! 

  We've also used the glowing sticks in the bathtub before. (Also fun!) 

  This time I thought I'd surprise her with a message. I activated a handful of glow sticks and spelled out "I love you" on her bed. Initially I was going to wait until she came across the message on her own, when she went to bed, but I didn't want to wait after it was ready, so I said, "Kay, go bring your shoes out of your room please. That's not where they belong." (Ooh, I'm sneaky!) She trudged off and then I heard, "Wow!" Yep, a hit! 

  After she oohed and aahed over it for a few minutes, she told me to leave and not peak. Then she came out and asked for "just one more" glow stick. When I was allowed back in, she had made X's all over the bed - "That's where the treasure is!" she explained happily. (Which brings up another idea - Tic-Tac-Toe!) Then she played with them for awhile, and later fell asleep with them by her side.

  The next night we tried a little glow stick bowling.  We used empty plastic bottles, snapped some glow sticks and added 2 to each bottle. We put water in one, to make it more challenging, but it was tricky to knock that one over. My only mistake - doing this before bedtime. Not a wise idea; Kay was very reluctant to have to end the game for a boring thing like sleep!

  Conclusion: Everything is more fun with glow sticks!
