I've been intrigued with paper crafts lately (I blame our reusing magazines and newspapers month for Project: Recycle & Create). I've been admiring different things on Pinterest, trying them out, and...well, you know how that goes. (Do they ever come out the way they're supposed to?!)
But weaving is one of those paper crafts that is fun for kids too - not to mention great for fine motor skills!

For this simple one, I cut out an approximate shape of an apple. (I noticed later that it also looked like a pumpkin - which also works for the autumn season!) Then I used a utility knife to cut horizontal slits.
Finally, I showed Kay how to weave strips of paper between the slits, making a pretty pattern. She got the hang of it pretty quickly, too!
When it was ready, we cut of the extra long strips, and glued the ends to the apple-pumpkin.
I like it!

Welcome to Fine Motor Friday! Check out what my co-hosts have been up to this week - they've been busy with awesome ideas to hone fine motor skills! Be sure to follow along onPinterest!
