Walking water is an awesome experiment. We had fun exploring markers and water on paper towels before and it was neat how the colors spread. This time we tried this experiment, inspired by The Royal Baloo. (Check out how to do it over there - she offers some great tips to keep in mind that were really helpful!)
I decided we would try the color-mixing version, and we tried blue and yellow first. With one end of the paper towel in each glass, and the other end in a paper cup, we waited to see what would happen. Kay guessed that the water would go from the glass into the cup.
When we checked on it again, lo and behold, she found out her guess was right. "I was right! That's what I thought!" she exclaimed proudly. The fact that the colors had mixed and made green was totally irrelevant to her.
Next time we tried mixing green and yellow, and we left it sitting longer, to see what would happen. After half-an-hour or more, the paper cup was about 1/2 filled with green water (the yellow didn't seem to show up). She was again excited that her prediction had came true.
