We've started reading books about kindergarten and talking it up early, many months before Kay is the start. Kindergarten means fun and learning and friends and a "big kid school". But any kid is going to worry - even those who have gone to preschool will have some anxieties, and children like Kay, who never attended formal schooling before, will likely have even more.
Clik here to view.

So, because I love reading and I think books can be a great way for kids to see how others have dealt with difficult situations, I put together a list of our top 5 kindergarten books. For more, you can visit our Amazon Back to School store.
And now, in no particular order, our top 5 picks for kindergarten books (drum roll? anyone?...)
- * Even with a big sister to tell him how great kindergarten will be, Dex's stuffed toy (but not Dex, of course!) is still nervous. But by the end they'll both be saying Kindergarten Rocks!
- * Every time we read this book I can just picture Kay opening the door to her kindergarten classroom and saying confidently, Look Out Kindergarten, Here I Come!
- * You know I'm going to like a book written by the author of "Not A Box" and Kindergarten Diary is the perfect combination of addressing children's fears and stressing the positive.
- * The Night Before Kindergarten is a rhythmic books describing how kids around the town get ready the night before school starts. Be ready for a "surprise" ending - I think I'll be like the parents in this book, though Kay and I make a joke of it.
- * Our favorite for the silly illustrations and fun rhymes as the animal characters prepare for school at the same time their teacher does in Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten. Miss Bindergarten has lots of kindergarten adventures, but this is the first in the series and we haven't read the others. This is one Kay asks for all the time. We've read this many times and still find something new in the illustrations each time we do.
