Out of the blue, Kay said, "I want to make slime! Can we make slime today?"
Slime, goop, oobleck - whatever you call it, it's messy. So that's the first thing that went through my head. But with no real good reason to say no, I said, "Sure." She ran to the junk drawer in the kitchen and grabbed...her pool goggles? Huh? "I want to do it like science!" she explained.

With that in mind, I didn't worry about exact measurements (do I ever?!). (But if you're wondering, about 1/2 cup of water for every cup of cornstarch.) I set out an approximate amount on the cornstarch and water, and also a few cups of grated-up chalk we had left over from another project. She got in her bathing suit (and goggles, of course!) and we brought everything into the bathtub.
She added, mixed, squished with her fingers. She wanted to see what happened if she added more water, so we turned on the tub and found more water made it...watery. (Didn't see that one coming, did you?)
So she started again.
So she started again.
I loved the science, I loved watching her explore and experiment, but I also loved the adorable goggles idea!
