I'm excited to be a part of the 40 Days of Sensory Bin Fillers, organized by Little Bins for Little Hands. 40 Days, 40 Bloggers and 40 Awesome Sensory Bin Fillers to Try! I chose the sensory material my daughter loves best...shaving cream!

Now shaving cream is one of the messier sensory bin fillers, especially when you make it a full-body affair, like my little one does. But it rinses off easily, so I'm a fan of it too.

I have tried, from time to time, to add a little something extra to the shaving cream sensory play that Kay loves so much.

First I thought...add color! So we squirted some green (washable!) paint in a tub with the shaving cream. It came out a pretty light green color but truth be told - Kay couldn't have cared less about the color.

Okay, how about feeling through the shaving cream to find stuff? She loves searching for things (scavenger hunts are a fave!) so I thought this would go over well. I put some foam alphabet pieces in a bin and added some glass gems (thank you dollar store!) before finally covering everything with the shaving cream.

I called her in and told her if she looked through the shaving cream she *just might* find something! <wink, wink> She started to rub the shaving cream on her arms, like usual, and came across the gems, but she was only interested in finding them to take them out! She wanted the plain old shaving cream. It's just the ultimate to her - it needs no improving.

Okay, lesson learned: Shaving cream is perfect for sensory play for Kay just the way it is!

Do your kids like playing with shaving cream?
